Our History:

The MSOM Mission was founded in 2018 by Michael and Cecilia Myhres, owners of Myhres School of Music in Biloxi. They are passionate about music and have witnessed first-hand the power music has on people of all ages, abilities and walks of life. The Mission believes that the opportunity for self-discovery through music is the birthright of all individuals, regardless of their socioeconomic or financial circumstances. MSOMM wants to engage and encourage everyone in the community who can benefit from the arts and musical experiences.

Who We Are:

We are coast musicians, teachers, songwriters and artists who inspire, teach, and serve as positive role models. We are driven by our passion and belief in the healing power of music and art for all individuals.

What We Do:

The Music Stimulates Our Minds Mission is a 501c3 charitable organization that provides music and art workshops, concerts, performance opportunities, music mentoring and lessons and public outreach. We partner with local communities to bring quality music education and experience through the talents of local musicians and teaching artists. We teach and share our talents through creative music, songwriting and art projects to encourage individuals to express themselves.

Programs we've done through the years:

2019

Teen Jamz w/ Jackson County CASA

Group guitar lessons for teens in the Jackon foster program. We provided guitars to all particpants.

Exceptional Jamz w/ clients at the Mental Health Association of South Mississippi

Monthly interactive music visits to the Opal Smith drop in center.

Exceptional Jamz w/SNO Special Needs Organization of South Mississippi

We hosted a drum/music circle with our friends from SNO

We provided the music portion of the SNO summer camp at the Mary C. Cultural Center

Sober Jamz w/women and children in the Community Care Network (Sue's home)

Monthly interactive music visits with the Mothers and children living temporarily at Sue's home. Donated musical instruments for them to enjoy between visits.
